Meanwhile, Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has been warned Ajax star Antony isn’t the player to replace Cristiano Ronaldo
Reports have claimed Ten Hag wants Antony to replace Ronaldo at Manchester United
After the Portuguese international asked to leave Manchester United this summer.
Asked whether United boss Erik ten Hag will want to keep Ronaldo, transfer expert Alex Crook told talkSPORT:
“I think he does, if they let him go they have to have a replacement lined up.
“He still scored 24 goals last season, he doesn’t have the mobility of Ronaldo first time round when he was at Old Trafford
“But he still knows how to put the ball in the net and that’s a precious commodity.
“There aren’t that many number nines out there, Darwin Nunez was a United target earlier in the summer
“Unless they’re going to go to Bayern Munich and say you can have Ronaldo
“And we’ll have Robert Lewandowski I don’t see how they’ll replace him
“A number nine hasn’t been high on Ten Hag’s priority list, they sounded out Nunez but he was always going to go to Liverpool.
“The one forward player he is keen to bring in Antony who is more of a wide forward from Ajax but they want big money and he’s not really a Ronaldo replacement.”
