Official: Barcelona reveals real reasons behind Dani Alves departure

Barcelona has officially confirmed that Brazilian defender Dani Alves has officially left the club 

Just seven months after rejoining the club, Barca has told Dani Alves they will not renew his contract this summer.

He’s looking to continue his career in Europe.

The 39-years-old has also confirmed he will leave the after he bid message on his Instagram account

Alves went on to feature 16 times during his second stint with Barça, scoring one goal and setting up three more.

The veteran star added a lot of value to the team with his experience

Their winning mentality and the attitude that he brings to the table.

However, Alves’ contract with Barcelona expires on June 30 and after much deliberation, the club has decided not to extend his stay beyond that point.

There had been talks of a possible extension up until December 2022 to help him prepare for the FIFA World Cup.

However, considering the club’s delicate financial situation and their pursuit of Cesar Azpilicueta, Barcelona decided against a new contract.

Reports earlier on Wednesday indicated that the club had communicated its decision to Alves

Now the veteran defender himself has confirmed that he will not be staying at the club beyond his current contract.

Taking to Instagram, Alves posted a message, part of which reads:

“Dear Culés. Now it’s time for us to say goodbye.

“I would like to thank all the staff for the opportunity they gave me to return to Barça and to be able to wear this wonderful shirt again, they don’t know how happy I am!

“Also I hope Barcelona doesn’t miss my craziness and daily happiness.

“I hope that those who remain at Barça change the history of this beautiful club, I wish it with all my heart.”
