Manchester United transfer target and Juventus center-back Matthijs de Ligt has backed Erik ten Hag to succeed as Manchester United boss.

Ten Hag has become United’s fifth permanent manager since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013 on the back of their worst season in Premier League history

Matthijs de Ligt believes Ten Hag is the right man for the job after their time together in Amsterdam when Ajax won a Dutch league and cup double and reached the semi-final of the Champions League.

“He is someone who loves his job and he loves to work,” De Ligt said as per Daily Mail.

“He’s really into the details. This makes him a really good trainer.

“He has a lot of qualities (to succeed). We will have to see how he goes.”

However, De Ligt’s future at Juventus is still uncertain following frustration at the club, he keen to join Erik Ten Hag at Manchester United

According to the report,  Ten Hag has had contact with De Ligt and admits summer transfer moves

Although, the defender still has a contract left at Old Ladys, and Manchester United needs to pay £150m for his released clause
