Netherlands manager Louis van Gaal has hailed Manchester United transfer target, Frenkie de Jong, as an incredible player following his impressive performance in Holland’s 4-1 victory over Belgium on Friday
De Jong turned in a masterful midfield display as the Netherlands eased to a 4-1 win over their neighbors
However, Steven Bergwijn and Denzel Dumfries on the score sheet Memphis Depay bagging a brace
Van Gaal, who spent two seasons in charge of United between 2014 and 2016, heaped praise on the Barcelona midfielder after the win.
“It is always a victory for the collective, but there are people who can excel in the collective which is of course great,” Van Gaal told NOS
“There are always stars in certain matches, but in this one, Frenkie de Jong and Steven Bergwijn, that was incredible how those two played.”
Meanwhile, former Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas has warned Manchester United that De Jong isn’t the complete package
Fabregas told Catalunya Radio: “When the expectation is very high it is not easy.
“I like Frenkie a lot, he breaks lines by driving the ball, he just lacks the final pass.”
Manchester United is reportedly hoping to lure De Jong to Old Trafford by offering him a salary of £395,000 a week, which will make him the best paid at Manchester United.
