Chelsea receive blow in PSG pursuit but has new alternative to sign

Chelsea has received a massive blow in the race to sign a Paris Saint Germain defender this summer transfer

The Blues are targeting defensive reinforcements this summer to offset multiple departures from the squad.

Antonio Rudiger has already left, while Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta could also be on their way out. The London giants were hoping to rope in Kimpembe to help shore up their backline.

However, speaking recently, as relayed by acclaimed transfer expert Fabrizio Romano

The Frenchman expressed a desire to extend his stay with PSG.

“I’m in love with Paris Saint-Germain. It’s a key moment for my career – I will be in talks with the board about the project” said Kimpembe.

Chelsea look to sign  RB Leipzig Josko Gvardiol as alternative

RB Leipzig’s defender who continues to be linked with a move to Chelsea this summer is Josko Gvardiol. The 20-year-old Croat has had a fine season at the Red Bull Arena, making 46 appearances, scoring two goals, and contributing three assists.

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea is the frontrunner for Gvardiol but face competition from their London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Now under Todd Boehly’s new ownership following a £4.25 billion takeover, the Blues are set to spend big this summer.

Gvardiol doesn’t have a release clause at Leipzig and the Bundesliga side is expected to drive a hard bargain for the impressive center-back.

Transfermarkt values the Croat at £27 million but Chelsea can expect to pay more with Leipzig keen to hold on to the center-back. The defender has four years left to run on his current deal with the German side having only joined the club last summer from Dinamo Zagreb.
