Arsenal defender William Saliba could be set to depart the Emirates this summer with Marseille reportedly considering a £25million bid for the defender who spent last season on loan with them.

After his impressive spell in Marseille, the French club are now interested in signing the Arsenal player on a permanent transfer

At 21-years-old, the southern France team views Saliba as a great investment

However, with his expected longevity and potential for growth giving them the confidence to make a major offer

If a deal can be struck between the two clubs then it would challenge Marseille’s previous record-breaking

Moreover, capture of Dimitri Payet from West Ham United in 2017.

Loaned to Marseille last summer following a previous spell at Ligue 1 side Nice the year before

Saliba produced countless dominant performances for the club as he helped guide them to a second place league finish and Champions League football.

He made 52 appearances for the French side in all competitions last season

Was even called up to the France national side by manager Didier Deschamps

Saliba returns to Arsenal much-improved since joining the club from Saint-Etienne on a long-term contract in 2019.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is reportedly not willing to sell his prized defender and is keen to first get a look at Saliba on Arsenal’s pre-season tour of America.

However, Saliba is yet to make his competitive debut for the Arsenal first-team.
